FUN FACTS
- Recorded between the months of September 2002-December 2003 at Wicked Honkey Studios, Brentwood, TN.
- The term, Brenthood, was coined during the creation of this album and used for the first time in The Immaculate Contraception Pt.1
- Recorded using Digidesign Pro Tools DIGI001 and Propellerheads Reason on a G4 Apple Macintosh.
- The Immaculate Contraception pt. 1, which turned out to be DSX's biggest hit, was the last song recorded and the original mix did not include Cadence. DSX decided to include Cadence after loving the song so much. The song was extended to fit another verse.
- Shanghai Tanghai sold approximately 200 CDs on its first day of release (January 21, 2004). All CDs were sold by hand by Duck and Stone.
- STFU, Leather Interior, and Streetsweeper all feature live drums. STFU is the only song on the album to have all live instruments.
- When You Come Home From Work... was recorded on a children's keyboard circa 1988. The song was written and recorded in under an hour.
- Streetsweeper was the first song recorded for the album, recorded almost a year and a half before the last, The Immaculate Reception Pt.1
- At the end of STFU a house phone can be heard ringing in the background. DSX thought it was funny, so left it in.
- DSX performed the majority of these songs at their High School's graduation party, "Graduapalooza," to over 500 people. During the final song, The Immaculate Contraception Pt.1, the song was abruptly stopped in the middle because of a crazy ex-girlfriend knocking over the mix table. The problem was quickly fixed and the song was started from the beginning. The drunk crowd didn't seem to notice.
- Shanghai Tanghai's infamous chorus was recorded in the stairwell of DSX's Wicked Honkey Studios. 5 friends were called to help sing the chorus.
- The last track, Streetsweeper, has a secret song approximately 2 minutes after ending. Listen for yourself...
